Azure rivers of Safed

Introduction

Safed, one of the four holy cities of Israel, located in the picturesque hills of Upper Galilee, is known for its unique air and nature. This city, rising 800-900 meters above sea level, offers visitors a special atmosphere.

Safed air

Safed is famous for its clean mountain air and pleasant coolness, which is especially noticeable in the hot Israeli summer. When other regions of the country experience sweltering heat, in Safed the air temperature in summer usually stays around +25°C.

It is often rainy in winter, especially in January, but the temperature rarely drops below +9°C, and sometimes it even snows. This high altitude location, according to legend, associates Safed with the element of "air" among the four holy cities, each of which represents one of the elements of the universe.

Nature of Safed

The nature around Safed is enchanting in its beauty and diversity.

Thanks to its location on the mountain tops, Safed offers stunning panoramic views of the Galilee, the Mediterranean Sea, Lake Kinneret (Sea of Tiberias) and even the snow-capped peak of Mount Hermon.

The name of the city "Tzfat" comes from the Hebrew verb "לצפות", which means "to observe", "to hope", "to contemplate" and this perfectly reflects the opportunity to admire the surrounding beauty and nature.
